Protecting Wildlife

Creating a Safer Future for Wildlife

Wildlife is an essential part of healthy ecosystems. Every species plays an important role in maintaining the balance of nature. At Aranya Ekta Trust, we work towards protecting wildlife, conserving natural habitats and creating conditions where wild animals can survive and thrive in their natural environment.

Our conservation efforts focus particularly on leopards and other wildlife of South Gujarat, while recognising that protecting a species also means protecting the forests, prey, water sources and communities connected to it.

What We Do

Leopard Conservation

Leopards are highly adaptable predators and an important part of the forest ecosystem. We support conservation initiatives that improve their habitat, strengthen natural prey availability and reduce situations that may bring leopards and people into conflict.

Habitat Protection

Wildlife requires safe and connected habitats. We support habitat conservation, native vegetation restoration and activities that help maintain ecological corridors and natural landscapes.

Protecting Natural Prey

A healthy prey base is fundamental to wildlife conservation. Restoring and protecting populations of natural prey can help reduce the dependence of predators on livestock and contribute to healthier ecosystems.

Reducing Threats

We promote awareness about the threats faced by wildlife, including habitat degradation, loss of natural resources, disturbance and human–wildlife conflict.

Our Philosophy

“A future where wildlife is protected, habitats are restored and people and wild animals can coexist peacefully.”

Restoring Nature

Bringing Life Back to Degraded Landscapes

Healthy forests are more than collections of trees. They are living ecosystems that provide food, shelter, water and breeding grounds for countless species.

At Aranya Ekta Trust, we believe that protecting existing forests and restoring degraded habitats are equally important. Our restoration initiatives focus on native vegetation, ecological recovery and strengthening the natural resources required by wildlife.

What We Do

Native Tree Plantation

We promote the planting of native species suited to local environmental conditions. Native trees support local biodiversity and provide valuable food and shelter for birds, insects and other wildlife.

Habitat Restoration

Where natural habitats have been degraded, restoration can help bring back vegetation and improve ecological functions.

Prey-Base Restoration

We support long-term approaches to improving natural prey availability. A stronger prey base can contribute to healthier predator populations and reduce dependence on domestic animals.

Grassland & Understory Restoration

Grasslands, shrubs and ground vegetation are important components of wildlife habitats. Restoration should therefore focus on the entire ecosystem rather than trees alone.

Water & Natural Resources

Water availability is essential for wildlife, especially during dry periods. We encourage conservation and restoration of natural water resources wherever appropriate.

Our Approach

“Restore nature using nature wherever possible.”

Human–Wildlife Coexistence

Living Together, Protecting Together

Human beings and wildlife share landscapes across many parts of India. As natural habitats change and human activities expand, encounters between people and wild animals can increase.

At Aranya Ekta Trust, we believe that conservation cannot succeed without the participation and support of local communities.

Our objective is not simply to protect wildlife, but to create conditions where people feel safe and wildlife remains protected.

What We Do

Community Awareness

We work to improve understanding about wildlife behaviour, local ecosystems and appropriate responses when wild animals are encountered.

Reducing Human–Leopard Conflict

Leopards can survive close to human-dominated landscapes, making responsible coexistence particularly important. We support awareness and conservation approaches aimed at reducing unnecessary conflict.

Protecting Livestock

Livestock losses can create fear and negative attitudes towards predators. We encourage practical measures that can help reduce livestock vulnerability and support coexistence.

Community Participation

Local people are important partners in conservation. Their knowledge, experiences and participation can significantly strengthen conservation programs.

Responsible Communication

Wildlife incidents should be communicated responsibly. Sensationalism can increase fear and hostility towards animals. We promote factual, responsible and conservation-oriented communication.

Our Philosophy

“Wildlife conservation is strongest when local communities become partners in protecting nature.”

Education & Awareness

Inspiring the Next Generation of Conservationists

Conservation begins with awareness.

When people understand the importance of forests, wildlife and biodiversity, they are more likely to protect them. At Aranya Ekta Trust, we work to create awareness among students, communities, volunteers and nature enthusiasts.

Community Outreach

Conservation messages become meaningful when they reach the people living closest to wildlife habitats. We encourage discussions and awareness activities within local communities.

Digital Awareness

Social media and digital platforms provide an opportunity to reach a wider audience with accurate and engaging conservation information.

Our Philosophy

“Learn about nature. Love nature. Protect nature.”

Community Well-being

Conservation and Communities Go Hand in Hand

Nature conservation cannot be separated from the well-being of the people who live around natural habitats.

At Aranya Ekta Trust, we believe that stronger communities can become stronger partners in conservation. We support initiatives that address essential community needs while encouraging environmental responsibility.
